WELCOME TO WEST SIDE!
We want you to feel welcome and included as part of the WSBC family.
West Side is NOT your “typical” Baptist church. We like to believe we have a unique style of our own. The WSBC body of believers is made up of a diverse grouping of people from a variety of social, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
God created you to be unique and to fulfill a specific plan and purpose for your life. Our goal is to help you identify your God-given gifts and talents and provide ways that help you to use those abilities to honor God.
FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions):
What is the style of worship?
Our Worship Service begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. We call it a blended service, but that could mean different things to different people. Basically, we feature a mixture of relevant, modern music with a blending of familiar, classic hymnal favorites that may or may not have updated musical arrangements. All elements of Worship (music, video segments, artwork, the sermon, etc.) are designed that we might authentically experience God together.
Full nurseries and care facilities are provided for babies and preschool aged children. Each week, after the praise and worship set, but before the sermon, there is a Children’s Message geared specifically for elementary-aged kids. The children who wish to go are then escorted to Ignition, our version of children’s church. In Ignition, the children study a lesson based on the same message being presented in the adult Worship Service.
How long does a service last?
The Worship Service typically lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes (give or take a few minutes). You’ll find that many of our people tend to hang out and socialize after the service has ended. We really enjoy each other’s company!
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you normally wear. The only requirement is that clothing IS required! Come prepared to worship God and make some new friends. We are more concerned with meeting YOU than we are with your attire. Everyone is different. At West Side, you’ll see nearly every style of clothing.
Where do I go when I first arrive?
If it’s your first visit, come in either set of doors directly below the church steeple. Greeters will be available to help you find your way to the nursery, a discipleship class, or the Sanctuary. They can even direct you to a cup of coffee or to the restrooms…whatever you need!
What if I still have questions?
If you don’t see what you are looking for on the website, feel free contact the church office by emailing our Office Manager or calling 540.434.9634 ext 2.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
Step 1 – Affirm that you have made a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ
Step 2 – Have an informal discussion with the Senior Pastor to discuss the steps that need to be taken to make a public proclamation of your faith; that is, whether you have been previously baptized by immersion or will need to be baptized here at West Side.
Step 3 – Once you and the pastor have decided what steps (if any) need to be taken, come forward at the end of a worship service to publicly proclaim your faith and desire to join the membership of West Side. If a baptism is necessary, a public baptism by immersion will be scheduled for a worship service of your choice following your public proclamation of faith.
Step 4 – Welcome to the Family!
Note: If there is an existing membership at another church, we may want to contact that church (as a courtesy) to inform them of the change in affiliation.
